The HSE Level 3 course is designed to provide advanced skills in HSE management. It offers deeper understanding of the core elements essential for the design, implementation and improvement of sound HSE management system. The course is one of the tools used by ISPON to regulate the practice of safety and ensure continuous professional development of safety professionals in Nigeria. Persons who desire to be registered as safety professionals in Nigeria must have undergone this course as a mandatory requirement. It is also required by organisations as part of personnel competence during projects, accreditations, interviews or other critical processes. Therefore, the HSE Level 3 training is in regular high demand.

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

HSE Level 2 training is suitable for workers and individuals who do not have a degree (HND or BSc degree). Such target audience may include anyone who has ordinary national diploma (OND) degree or its equivalent, senior secondary school certificates or other similar qualifications.

COURSE SYNOPSIS

The Certified Safety Trainer (CST) is a competence certificate awarded to persons who have met the minimum requirement to work as trainers, instructors, facilitators or take similar roles in safety related fields in Nigeria. It is a regulatory tool used by the Institute to control training activities and it is mandatory for anyone who desires to work as trainers, instructors, facilitators or take similar roles in safety related fields.

The certification process entails successful completion of the Training Management Course, which qualifies the participants to take assessments in their selected scope leading to the award of CST certificate.

 The Training Management course will help participants gain and maintain competence needed for managing training activities in safety. Purposefully designed, participants in this hands-on training will be exposed to latest trends and best practices in training management and have the opportunity to gain vital skills for effective training delivery.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS

The following are the minimum eligible requirements.

  1. Persons seeking the CST certification must have HND or bachelor degree in relevant discipline, and must be an active ISPON member (MISPN or FISPN).
  2. Anyone seeking to obtain the CST certificate must be expert in their field of practice with verifiable industry experience.
  3. Participants must have their personal computers/laptops.
  4. Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory.

COURSE SYNOPSIS

Many chemicals used at work pose serious health risk to the workers. The consequences of exposures to these chemicals can lead to chronic or acute health effects, and can be life threatening or even fatal depending on several factors. Explosive substances, solvents, dangerous goods and other chemicals in various forms have also contributed to increased risk of fire and explosion when not properly managed.

The course will equip participants on how to safely handle different chemicals and hazardous materials that may be present in their workplaces. The course will also cover the requirements of ISO 11014:2009 Safety Data Sheet.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the course include:

  1. Provide detailed understanding of hazardous substances and dangerous goods;
  2. Expose participants to the Globally Harmonized System (GHS) of chemical classification and labeling;
  3. Understand the physical, chemical, radiological and toxicological properties of various chemicals;
  4. Provide sound understanding of various effects of exposures to hazardous substances and dangerous goods;
  5. Learn how to safely handle hazardous chemicals and dangerous goods including selection of storage facilities.

The hazards and effects management process (HEMP) is the heart of HSE management systems in an organization.

It is developed to provide a structured approach to the analysis of hazards throughout the life cycle of an installation. The HEMP process within an HSE-MS involves the identification of hazards and effects, assessment of the associated risks and the specification of the control and recovery measures which must be in place and maintained in place.

The gas testing training is designed to equip participants with needed skills and competence to detect the presence of hazardous gases in the workplace. Critical operations such as working in confined spaces or working in gas facilities require specialized controls in other to prevent disasters. The training will provide knowledge of gas testing procedure to detect the presence and concentration of toxic and explosive gases so that adequate controls can be implemented to avoid incidents.

The gas testing training is designed for personnel who work in confined spaces, gas plants, tank farms, and other processes where hazardous gases may exist. The course is especially recommended for managers, supervisors and team leads who are responsible for m managing risks relating to toxic or explosive conditions.

Confined space safety is mandatory for all workers entering a confined space.

COURSE SYNOPSIS

The Advanced Fire Safety course is designed to equip participants with specialised skills in fire fighting, and it forms part of loss prevention and loss control programmes in organizations.

Fire incident is a common occurrence at the workplace, causing avoidable injuries, loss of lives and properties. While many organizations have put measures in place to prevent fire outbreaks, it is important to have an effective emergency plan in place that will aid effective response in critical times. This course will expose participants to the standard risk assessment process based on ISO 31000 to help them understand practical approaches to fire prevention. It will further expose them to best available technologies in fire fighting. In addition, the participants will learn how to administer first aid and CPR to support fire victims.

  • PSYCHOMETRIC TOOLS FOR PERSONALITY ASSESSMENT

COURSE SYNOPSIS

The personality assessment is a predictive safety tool based on a set of 204 questions that are non-intrusive, non-invasive and very easy to understand. The test questions are based on data collected from working adults and are designed at 4th grade reading level. Participants will take the assessment within 15-20 minutes and a Safety Report will be produced by the system within 3 minutes which to predict the behaviour and personality of the test-taker.
